Excessive Toxin Exposure - May Reveal Health Risks
We are exposed to a cocktail of chemicals sourcing from the personal care products that we use daily,
processed food that we are eating and also the air or exhaust gas that we breath.
These toxins have the potential to affect human health in a most insidious way from low level,
long term exposure through our diet, inhalation and using personal care products.
Researches have pointed out that exposure to environmental pollutants links to the development of serious diseases like cancers and errors of metabolism.
Where Do Toxins Come From?
Environmental toxins are everywhere
Environmental Sources

Automotive emission, Active/Passive cigarette smoking, Paints, Volatile solvents, Water sources and air.
Cosmetics &
Personal Care Products

Skincare product, Cosmetics, Deodorants, Perfume, Hair spray, Nail polish, Shampoo, Shower gel
Occupational
Sources

Solvents for rubber, Synthetic resins, Gums, Inks, Paints
Plastic
Products

Food packaging and containers, Cups and disposable utensils, Microwavable boxes, Plastic wrap, Zip-loc Bags, Water bottles, Raincoats and boots
Household
Products

Domestic chemical cleaners, Home fragrance, Rubber flooring
Food &
Medicine

Processed food and drinks (concentrated juice sport drinks, jelly, instant food, fast food, pastry), Medical tubing, some medicine (e.g. sleeping pills & antibiotics), Shell of capsule medicine.
Are those symptoms the sign of the toxin accumulation?

Irritating eyes, nose, throat & skin, Taste & Olfactory fatigue

Hormone disorder, Anaemia, Dermatitis, Dyspnoea,
Blurred vision

Diarrhea, Nausea,
Abdominal pain

Fatigue, Depression, Anxiety, Excitatory effect, Dizziness, Drowsiness, Impaired balance, Difficult concentration, Insomnia, Anorexia
Researches showed that long-term exposure to environment toxins is linked to increased risk of multiple diseases,
including nervous system problems, anaemia and cancer.
Some of them are known carcinogens and endocrine disruptors.

Cancer

Diminished white blood cell, weaken immunity

Disrupt male reproductive organs

Birth defect, abnormal fetal development
Why does the test use urine as sample?
A first morning urine sample is required to profile the level of toxins.
Many metabolites occur in detectable amounts only in urine.
Moreover, the first morning specimen usually contains a higher level of analytes, and midstream specimen can avoid the incidence of cellular and microbial contamination,
thus we request first morning midstream urine as the sampling specimen.
Liquid urine sample is stable at room temperature(20-25℃) for 12 days.

HK BioTek Technology Competence
-
Sample will be sent to our laboratories in the United States for analysis employing the advanced approach:
Liquid Chromatography/ Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry platform (LC-MS MS). -
This method measures chemical markers even at a low level for optimum test results.
-
Automated, reproducible testing to reduce human error and achieve high quality result.

Testing Items
Our environmental toxins profile accurately measures 45+ markers from 13 groups of environmental toxins from a small sample of urine.
The test reflects your recent exposure to environmental toxins.

The Testing Process

User Testimonials
Useful Data for My Practice
Functional Medicine Practitioner, Central, Hong Kong
“The test quantifies exposure to aromatic solvents, parabens and phthalates. Many of my patients found it very convenient to collect the urine sample with the sampling strips from HK BioTek. The result provides the most useful data for detox program for my patients.”
Examine the Efficiency of Bodily Functions
Nutritionist M, Hong Kong
“The report comes with a comprehensive review of the data, potential sources of exposure and detailed detoxification protocols for each of the pollutants and for any metabolic blockades found. It is a very good tool for practitioners to know more about our patients from the biochemical perspective.”
Reveal How My Body is ‘Polluted’
Ms Yang, Shenzhen, China
“I did this test with the Urinary Metabolic Profile. I spend most of my time in China and I do have concerns how my body is ‘polluted’ by the environment, and want to do something before it is too late. Plus I am struggling with my weight and digestive system. So I want to see if there is any underlying cause for these problem. After the test and followed the instruction on the report to detox and supplement what is lacking, the symptoms improve a lot.”
An Absolute Must for Better Body
Dr. Mark Schauss, USA
“Environmental pollutants testing is an absolute must if you want to achieve the best body composition and lose fat. This first morning urine test, using dry strip technology is easy to do.”

Frequently-Asked Questions
1. What are the strengths of HK BioTek ETP test?
• 13 types of environment toxins tested
• Non-invasive, urine sample collection
• Advanced technology from US laboratory with 30+ years of experience
• Clear report with detailed explanation on abnormal markers
2. How accurate is urine as an indicator of my body status of toxicity?
-
Toxins exposure occurs when we come into contact with the chemicals in the environment, either by consuming, inhalation, or skin contact; the toxin is absorbed into our body, where it’s metabolised and eventually excreted in urine. The level of corresponding metabolites in urine can reflect toxins exposure, and can act as biomarkers of environmental toxins
-
Urine analysis is also a standard method of measuring chemical exposure as it carries various waste products that are filtered out of the blood system
3. Could we know more about the specificity and accuracy of the test?
Our test undergoes a stringent biochemical process to detect metabolic intermediates in your urine, which interprets your body’s efficiency. US BioTek Laboratories is an independent clinical laboratory approved by CLIA (US Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) and has the accreditation from CAP (College of American Pathologists). CAP accreditation, with the authority granted by the Centres for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) within the United States Department of Health and Human Services, helps to maintain accuracy of test results, meet required standard from CLIA, FDA and OSHA: where excellence in patient safety, laboratory management, staff competency, procedures and processes, equipment and facilities and record keeping. The Laboratories is also licensed by the State of Washington to perform testing worldwide.
